Go to Start -> Run -> sfc /scannow
A windows will open. If an error is found, Windows will prompt for the Windows CD.
If no errors are found, the program will just close.

If you don't have your CD, then use this workaround: http://windowsxpsp2p...to-use-sfc.html

Do you have more that one user account on your computer?
If so, use method #1 to display the Administrator account in the welcome screen: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/admins.htm
Log in as admin, and run a sfc /scannow

I might be under the wrong cat. I have windows vista (ugg). Anyway, I am the only user on the account but I did figure out how to run vista in admin. I did the sfc /scannow but it still didnt fix that program. i'm kinda stumped.

Did the sfc /scannow prompt you for a Windows CD?

Go here: http://www.snapfiles...ssingfiles.html
Download and install all the runtimes and the .NET framework files.

That means that your system files are not corrupted, and none of them are missing.
Hopefully the runtime files solve your problem. :)

This is driving me crazy. Your suggestion didn't work. I still get the error:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: DVDPhotoMaker.exe
Application Version: 7.9.5.0
Application Timestamp: 48871159
Fault Module Name: MFC42.DLL
Fault Module Version: 6.6.8063.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 4791a6f4
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 0002b1a3
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033
Additional Information 1: 5c97
Additional Information 2: ef31a68959919f53841dc3ae7dd2e98c
Additional Information 3: f468
Additional Information 4: 3cb1eb589f56c5818b9f1c5cf5fc1b69

I also wrote the company asking for advice. I followed theirs and it still didn't work. If I reload the program will I lose the, I guess file, that I have already made with the program?? :)

Do a system search for the file MFC42
Tell me where the dll is located.

If the file you made with the program has been saved on the hard drive, then uninstalling and reinstalling the program won't delete it.
Just make sure that the file you made is not in the installation folder of the program you will reinstall.

You might want to search for the file you need, and make a couple backups before we begin to do anything.

Next, make a backup image of your hard drive. This will make sure that nothing bad can happen to your computer.

Download DriveImage XML.
http://www.runtime.o...veimage-xml.htm
Create a backup image of your drive and save it on that drive.

Then if we will ever have to restore it, we can do so by using the UBCD for Windows.
http://www.ubcd4win.com/

After you have created a backup, and burnt UBCD for Windows to a disc (make sure you can boot from it) post back.
