trying to install xp [bleep]ed up my laptop

i put the disk into my computer, restarted it and went into boot from cd screen. i selected where to install it and left it when the first progress bar poped up. i came back to my laptop about 5 mins later and it was turned of. i turned it back on and a xp screen come up saying instalsion will be completed in 39mins. i was reading what it was saying abut xp when my laptop turned itself of again. now it wont get past the first lading screen on my computer.

it comes up with toshiba, gives me the option to press f2 for system utilities or f12. then the bar loads and my laptop goes black. and thats it, it wont go on any further. please help... what have i done wrong... what can i do to fix my laptop...
