Hi, I've been through both the malware and windows forums trying to diagnose my computer issue. Please look at the windows forum post: http://www.geekstogo...15#entry1522215

Could this be a fan problem? I have a Dell Vostro 1400. Thanks.

Yes if the cpu is getting hot due to the fan not running then the system will slow down and eventually the cpu will shutdown or be rendered useless. I suggest you take it to a repair shop and have them replace the fan asap. I read everything from the previous topic and it definatly looks like your issue is a over heating problem.

Okay, just for future reference -- should the fan always start as soon as I boot up the computer? Because right now it comes after I boot up windows. Could this be a bios issue?

The fan should always start as soon as you push the power button.
