iTunes connection has timed out.

I was able to connect to the iTunes store when I first installed iTunes when I got my ipod nano. However, now I am unable to connect. Everytime I try to connect it says the network connection has timed out and that I must check my network connections. I am still able to log on to the internet, but not the iTunes store. I have Windows XP and Internet Explorer. I have tried EVERYTHING, LAN, proxy, Firewall, ect. I can't seem to make it work. I've tried the suggested fix-its on the Apple support website, but all haven't seemed to work. I would really appreciate any help anyone could offer!
