I keep getting all these new security spyware warnings right after I've fixed all of the earlier problems. Am I not actually fixing the real problem or do I have some gapping hole in my internet connection?

Reboot and run the tool one more time

You may want to print out these instructions or save them to your desktop as a text file with Notepad because we will be restarting into Safe Mode later on in the fix and you might not be able to access the Internet.

• Prepare CWShredder for use:
  • Download CWShredder.
  • Save CWShredder.exe to a convenient location.
  • Please do not do anything with it yet.
• Prepare AboutBuster for use:
  • Download AboutBuster.
  • Unzip the contents of AboutBuster.zip and an AboutBuster directory will be created.
  • Navigate to the AboutBuster directory and double-click on AboutBuster.exe.
  • Click "OK" at the prompt with instructions.
  • Click "Update" and then "Check For Update" to begin the update process.
  • If any updates exist please download them by clicking "Download Update".
  • You should not run the program yet so click "Exit".
• Prepare cwsserviceremove.reg for use:
  • Download cwsserviceremove.zip.
  • Unzip the contents of cwsserviceremove.zip (cwsserviceremove.reg) to your desktop.
  • Please do not do anything with it yet.

Reconfigure Windows XP to show hidden files:
Click Start. Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. Select the View Tab.

Under the Hidden files and folders heading select "Show hidden files and folders".
Uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" option.
Uncheck the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.

Boot into Safe Mode:
Restart your computer and immediately begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard.
If done right a Windows Advanced Options menu will appear. Select the Safe Mode option and press Enter.
To return to normal mode just restart your computer as you normally would.

• Run CWShredder:
  • Double-click on CWShredder.exe.
  • Click "Fix ->" and click "OK" at the prompt.
  • CWShredder will scan and clean your system of CWS files.
  • Click "Next->" and then "Exit".
• Remove the offending service:
  • Double-click on cwsserviceremove.reg you downloaded earlier.
  • When it asks you to merge the information to the registry click "Yes".
• Run AboutBuster and save the logs:
  • Browse to where you saved AboutBuster and run AboutBuster.exe.
  • Click OK at the directions prompt.
  • Click Start and then OK to allow AboutBuster to scan for Alternate Data Streams.
  • Click Yes to allow it to shutdown explorer.exe.
  • It will begin to your computer for malicious files. If it asks if you would like to do a second pass, allow it to do so.
  • When it has finished, click Save Log. Make sure you save it as I need a copy of it.
• Clean out temporary files:
  • Start | Run | type cleanmgr | OK
  • Let it scan your system for files to remove.
  • Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
  • Click "OK" to remove them.
  • Click "Yes" to confirm the deletion.
• Restart your computer normally to return to normal mode.
• Free TrendMicro Housecall scan:
  • Vist the TrendMicro Housecall website.
  • Select your country from the drop-down list and click "Go".
  • Choose "Yes" at the ActiveX Security Warning prompt.
  • Please wait while the Housecall engine is updated.
  • Select the drives to be scanned by placing a check in their respective boxes.
  • Check the "Auto Clean" box.
  • Click "SCAN" in order to begin scanning your system.
  • Please be patient while Housecall scans your system for malicious files.
  • If not auto-cleaned, remove anything it finds.
  • Click "Close" to exit the Housecall scanner.

okay, so I've done what you told me to, and the CWShredder did not recognize that I have SmartFinder on my computer. On my personal spyware removal program it said that I have MidAddle, SandBoxer, and SmartFinder, all of which it does not know how to remove yet...

okay, so I did everything that you told me to do... however, the cwshredder didn't recognize that I have the SmartFinder CoolWebSearch thing. When I ran my own spyware removal unit it said that I have MidAddle, SmartFinder, and SandBoxer, all of which it cannot remove... Please help... this thing is getting SUPER annoying... thanks!

Click here to download Pocket Killbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file to a convenient location we will use it later
please download AdAware. . and update the program we will use it later

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Click Start | Run and type services.msc , then click OK

Scroll down and right click on 'Network Security Service'
Again, ensure it's the 'Network Security Service' and no other.
Select 'Properties' and set the "Service Status" option to "Stop"
Set "Startup type" to "Disabled", click Apply, then OK.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Now open pocketkillboxSelect the option "Delete on reboot".
Now highlight and 'copy' (Ctrl + C) the entire list of filepaths below:
Click 'File' on the killbox menu at the top and choose 'Paste from clipboard'
The entire list should now be in the "Full Path of File to Delete"
field.To check, click on the dropdown-arrow next to that field.
If you expand it, these lines should all be there.

It seems you have Been reinfected again
Just stick with it and follow this fix exactly and we will get you cleaned up

You have a nasty About:Blank infection. This fix requires several tools that need to be downloaded. Please download these now, we will run them later.

1) About:Buster - Download it and extract it to C:/aboutbuster.
2) CleanUp! - Download it and install it.
3) CWShredder 2.11 - Download it and save it to your desktop.
4) Ad-Aware - Download, install, and update.

During the fix do NOT connect to the internet. Unless you can memorize these instructions, it would be a good idea to print them out.

Boot into safe mode:
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Show Hidden Files and Folders (if needed)
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Run AboutBuster
-Click Start to begin the process
-Click OK on the Buster Report dialogue box to start the scan
AboutBuster scans the computer for malicious files and deletes them.
Save the report (copy and paste into Notepad and save as a .txt file) to post a copy for review.

Run CWShredder
-Next, click on the: ‘Fix’ button
-Follow the prompts, and press OK

Run CleanUp
-Make sure it is on Standard Mode
-Click the "CleanUp!" button

Run Ad-Aware
-Configure Ad-Aware for a full system scan
-Run it

Clean Up the left overs

Okay... so this is really frustrating... I must admit... All of those files you told me to delete were gone... I ran Norton Antivirus. Is there any other program that can get rid of CoolWebSearch because CWShredder does not recognize that I have it, however, I have two other programs that recognize I have it but cannot remove it... Disconnect from the internet

Click Start | Run and type services.msc, then click OK

Scroll down and right click on 'Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper' Again, ensure it's the 'Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper ' and no other.
Select 'Properties' and set the "Service Status" option to "Stop"
Set "Startup type" to "Disabled", click Apply, then OK.

I see you have Microsoft Antispyware on your system. You may want to disable it (in the system tray:right click it, then left click on Shutdown Microsoft anti spyware) It could interfere with the fix.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Now open pocketkillbox Select the option "Delete on reboot".Now highlight and 'copy' (Ctrl + C) the entire list of filepaths below:
Click 'File' on the killbox menu at the top and choose 'Paste from clipboard'
The entire list should now be in the "Full Path of File to Delete"
field.To check, click on the dropdown-arrow next to that field.
If you expand it, these lines should all be there.

Killbox will tell you that all listed files will be deleted on next reboot, click YES.

Now scan with Adaware and fix anything it finds

Reenable Microsoft antispyware

I ran all the stuff you asked me to.. I think it might have worked? The only weird thing is that when I turned Microsoft Antispyware back on, immediately, it said that CoolWebSearch was trying to install itself onto my computer... Is there any way to completely remove the dang thing from my computer?
