I would suggest getting driver cleaner at http://www.drivercleaner.net/ Then go to ad/remove programs, delete the current Nvidia driver. Then boot into safe mode and run driver cleaner TWICE, each time deleting all that it finds. Then re-install the newest driver.

Hey, thanks for the idea but I tried that and it did not work. After uninstalling the driver i rebooted in safe mode and ran the program twice but it didnt find anything to clean even. I manually deleted the folder because it didnt. Then downloaded and installed the new drivers. All icons were still messed up and the start menu is a mess... the proper icons show when u pass over them with the mouse but everything is still all 'garbled' ... alot of graphics are also distorted or wrong... some look like part of them have been copied and pasted over others. It's hard to explain. This computer did not have the Nvidia card in it when I purchased it. It had 64 meg of shared on the motherboard. I tried to go into BIOS and shut off the onboard before installing the card but there are no options at all to do that. Could there be a problem with some value in the bios? Would that affect the new driver install possibly? Ive been running graphic tests and this card is not scoring as high as it should... and it cost over $450. I know something is wrong but I have no idea what or where to start looking. I have never had these kinds of problems before. (off topic) I HATE windows XP SP2... the only reason I bought this pc was because it said SP1 and surprise... SP2 installed.... now I have Dr Watson Postmortem Debugger problems, that annoying security center (that I disabled)... Ive never had any problems with SP1 before.
Thank you though for the idea it was worth a shot... but it didnt do anything for some reason.. Ive built , fixed 100s of computers I have no idea where to start on this.
