have a bit of an odd problem here that i'm not sure i can get around. i bought a laptop off an ex of mine, when she wasn't my ex.... laptop works great, the only problem is that she still has herself as admin, and i am essentially just a guest in my own pc. is there any way i can get admin status when i'm not the admin user?

In accordance with the Terms of Use of these forums we're not allowed to assist in overcoming password protections on the computer. I'd have to suggest that you use the system recovery disks to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows - then you'll be able to create an Administrator account.

If you don't have the disks, you may be able to obtain them from the manufacturer of the system.
