Slow-Mo feature in a video player?

I might be getting a DVD from the high school football coach of my school and was wondering if there's a program that features slow motion or something of that sort so that I can slow down the game film to get a better look at the play.

It might be a video tape too... so if anyone knows how I could possibly slow down the game tape, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
