I recently did a complete system restore. Whenever I start up my computer, I'm prompted with some weird errors (this also happens when I try to start certain programs).

It is always something to the like of "There is no disk in drive. Please insert a disk into \Device\Harddisk3\DR5"
The hard disk number changes, as well as the DR number. I just press 'cancel' until I'm prompted no longer and the programs start up.
Any ideas?
Also, the programs in question are: Spybot S&D, SUPERAntiSpyware, Zune, PC Tools Antivirus

then reinstall them one at a time and reboot in between installs...

I don't have Zune plugged in when booting, no. I'll try the reinstallations and get back to you.

Hmmm - I haven't reinstalled anything. Now I'm getting an error prompt saying 'Windows - No Disk' I just keep pushing cancel until it stops prompting me (20-30 times).
What the eff??!?

HP sent me system restore disks. I had two options: I could do just a system restore where Windows is reinstalled and my harddrive date remains. The second option was to restore everything to factory settings, including erasing my harddrive. I opted for the second option.
It seems now I get this error whenever I try to do anything, even opening volume control settings.

I tried running Maxtor Powermax v. 4.23. Aside from the usual Windows error prompt when I run the program, after I agree to the terms, the program gives me an error: Floppy drive error. Error reading drive. No diskette in drive or drive failure. I don't have a floppy drive.

NOTE THE LIMITATIONS of The PowerMax utility

The PowerMax utility is designed to perform diagnostic read/write verifications on Maxtor and Quantum hard drives. These tests will determine hard drive integrity.

The PowerMax utility is effective on all ATA (IDE) hard drives with a capacity greater than or equal to 500 MB. Maxtor recommends the use of this utility for troubleshooting potential hard drive problems.

These problems include, but are not limited to the following:

· Potential hard drive surface problems (e.g., bad clusters, bad sectors, partitioning/formatting problems, etc.).
· Drive recognition problems (e.g. hard drive that is not recognized by the operating system).
· Software removal.


Note: PowerMax will not detect ATA or SATA hard disks connected to embedded or add in RAID controllers, NVIDIA Force 4, VIA KT 600 and KT800 chipsets. If the hard disk is connected to an unsupported controller, it will have to be moved to an alternate system, or controller for diagnosis
