Whenever I try to connect it to the computer it doesn't detect DNS settings and won't get past the ethernet cable step on xbox live. I was wondering am I doing something wrong I have a MAC address filter on my network but bothe my xbox and my computer are registered on it. So that isn't the problem I am sure I have the Firewall down and no other firewalls. So I was wondering if you have any suggestions

Well, First off I would not suggest Running Xbox live through your computer makes things much more difficult. If you are just trying to get Movies and Music to play on your xbox from your computer then you do not need to test Xbox Live connection rather test Computer connection. As far as fixing your problem with connecting to the internet through a computer, I do not have any suggestions other than get a router!
