In this thread, you stated:

224gb hard drive 152gb of free space

But, at malware forum, I can see:

C:\ [Fixed] - NTFS - (Total:229757 Mo/Free:4053 Mo)

so, you have only 4GB left on 230GB hard drive, which is most likely your main issue.
It'd be consistent with:

I forgot to mention that when this problem started I was getting a low virtual memory warning.

Windows needs at least 15% of a free space to operate correctly.
In your case, at least, 35GB, possibly more.

I right clicked on my C drive and it shows I have 150 gb of free space
