We just had our 6-year-old Dell reformatted (Windows XP Pro).

It worked fine for about three days, then crashed this morning - son had been playing World of Warcraft for about 10 minutes. Had plenty of storage and RAM.

Can't get it to start in safe mode or any other mode. Just goes to a black screen.

Any clue where to start? My husband said he couldn't hear the fan going.

Which fan, the PSU fan?
Look on the back and turn the system on. If the fan in the PSU isn't turning then you need to replace the PSU.
