I am trying to remove a trojan by restore my OS but when I put the cd in an error pops up and say system32.restore.log missing. Any ideas on how to reformat my OS? Or where I can get a restore log for emachines? The OS came with the computer and they aren't helping b/c it's out of warranty.

So, you want to get rid of a trojan by reformatting? Explain everything more clearly. Emachines computers come with a recovery partition that can be booted from if you press F11 when the message "Press F11 to start recovery" appears during bootup.

Microsoft actually help me remove the trojan. But, to answer you question. I put the emachine recovery cd in and hit F11 and when it goes to run it can't b/c of the error that pops up."Error 2: C \minint\system32\Restore.log
How can I ever reformat without this? Can I find it somewhere?

You hit F11, if you want to use recovery partition located on your hard drive. Since you're getting the above error, it looks like recovery partition was somehow damaged.
Id you have recovery CD, you have to boot from it.
Put CD in, and restart computer. At some point, you should see this message:
Press any key to boot from CD
Then you press "any key".

Now, you're saying, Microsoft helped you remove the trojan. I wonder how, but in any case, what are the current computer issues since you want to reinstall Windows?
