Hi guys, i need some help, basically windows isnt booting as run32.dll has been deleted. I bought the laptop with windows on it and dont have the recovery disc thing. I DO however have a copy of the Ultimate Boot CD. I need pretty straightforward instructions as none of the research i have done makes sense to me! thanks in advance

ps i have no floppy drive

Why not to use recovery partition to remove all old owner garbage, and start fresh?

Tell us what the make and model of your computer is, so that we can provide instructions to restore your computer using its recovery partition.

Hey thanks for taking the time to reply. I have no idea what a recovery partition is, but i have a lot of stuff on it i would like to keep, so was just hoping to add the one dll file. (i think my antivirus decided to delete it). What's a recovery partition?

If you want to keep stuff, you can't use recovery partition then.

windows isnt booting as run32.dll has been deleted

How do you know that?

i get a blue screen saying user32.dll not found, reinstalling it may correct this problem.

I've been looking around on the boot disc, only one DOS type program seems to recognise my C drive and it calls it D drive. this program doesn let me use USB.

I think, your best option is to borrow Windows CD, and run repair: http://www.geekstogo...ws-XP-t138.html

Running a repair would fix this problem for sure.

You could try this:
Go here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/142676
Scroll down to Advanced Troubleshooting ~ Method 1
Then follow the steps there. You need your Windows CD for this.
