In IE 8 when I click on any

Download File

File Dowload

box comes up, but it has only these buttons:

Open, Open Folder, and Cancel

. Both "Open" and "Open Folder" are grayed out. Only "Cancel" is active. Here's an example of what it shows:

Getting File Information:
...d&code=confirm_download&id=21 from www.geekstogo.com

Below that is "Estimated time left" but it shows nothing. And
"Download to:" is empty too as is "Transfer rate:"

There used to be either a "Run" button or a "Download to" but these are not offered now.

Your attention to this problem will be much appreciated.

I've found a solution to downloading files to my desktop.

Just right-click and "Save Target As".

So I suppose this issue is solved.

P.S. Please allow me to sneak in a seperate question that may or may not be related to my initial post: Now if only I can fix IE 8 so that it opens faster than the 10 seconds+ it takes now. A few pages I visit often can take up to 60 seconds+. And I'm running cable broadband.
