One week ago my Windows XP crashed. I removed the old hard disk and installed it as an external drive (too much to backup!) and installed a new C: drive. Re-installed XP and all the drives, software, antivirus, etc. Tonight I have gotten several messages from AVG that SHeur2.AEOL has been identified; the antivirus cannot remove it. Could it be the reason for the XP crash? Could it still be hidden in my old HD and infecting the new one?

Thanks for your help!!!

Here is my HJT log:

:) :) :) :) Sorry, I should have started from the beginning. i.e. learning about the new malware tools and running the new basic routines... It has been a long time since I visited G2G and my old age keeps hitting :)

Anyway, there are some really great new tools in the site, congratulations guys!!! :) :) :) I am dropping HJT and going with Old Timer hands down!!!

Consider this thread SOLVED. Thanks again and cheers,

Liz
