:) my hp pavillion has windows xp home edition, and since my teen used it last, all I get is a black screen that says NTLDR missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart, but the same thing happens. It,s a used pc, so I don't have the xp disc. I don't know much at all about tech stuff. Is there anything I can do?

do you have a floppy drive ?

if you do make sure there is no disk in,

if you don't have a floppy drive, has the pc been moved or opened ?

This is a duplicate post.
Here is my advice again:

The link given by Tyler is what you need to troubleshoot the missing NTLDR problem.
You can also try this:
Click on "Recovery Console Instructions" in my sig, to burn yourself a copy of the Windows recovery console. Then click on "Repair Common Windows Startup Problems" in my sig, and follow the instructions there using the CD you burnt earlier.

You are probably dealing with a corrupt NTDLR.
