Hello: I have an HP Pavillion 523n. It has not been altered or upgraded since purchased. I use Windows XP Home ed. Mostly since I installed Service Pack 3, I get total freezeups while using Windows Movie Maker and sometimes when using Paint. The computer is also very slow overall since Service Pack 3. Do I need more or different RAM? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hello dcaporel & Welcome to GTG ,

I will need some more information
If it is a name brand system:
Make and Model
Operating System
Age of the computer
Memory Total
Hard Drive Size, How much free space

If it is custom build then I will need the following:
The CPU brand and model
The Motherboard brand and model
Ram amount and speed
Cd\Dvd rom interface IDE/ SATA
Hard Drive size and free space
Any cards in PCI slots
Any software installed\updated and driver updates done just before problem started

All this will help in determining a course of action to best correct the problem you are experiencing

Best of luck !
&
Happy Computing

Thanks for the comeback. I'll get the information you requested and post it. I'm away from that computer right now so it will take a day. Thanks again.

Download and install EVEREST
Open it.
1: In left pane expand Computer folder.
2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.

PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE ANYTHING UNDER THE LINE THAT SAYS "DEBUG- PCI"
