My husbands computer seems to boot just fine, I hear all the normal beeps and such but the screen is black, however, when I open the computer in safe mode, I can see the screen just fine. Any suggestions as to what to do next?

It looks like video card driver, or the card itself problem.
Is it on-board video, or real video card?
Computer brand, and model, please.
