Yesterday, my computer started to act a bit strange. Any long-lasting sound (such as music) that I would play would keep stuttering and being interrupted by rolling ticks (?). I also started to notice that my mouse pointer was running a bit slow, but that might just be in my head. As a side note, the sound stuttering and rolling would occasionally happen in the last few weeks, but would quickly stop. But today it won't go away, even when I restart the computer.

I decided to run my AVG anti-virus. But lo and behold, it was gone. It had somehow deleted itself from my computer. Yet some of its files remained on my computer, and Windows still thought I had AVG, even though I didn't.

Well, I reinstalled it and ran it, but it found no threats.

Here are my specs:
Windows XP Home
1 GB RAM
AVG 8.0 Anti-Virus Free Edition
Intel Atom Processor
Firefox with Ad-Block, NoScript, Web of Trust, and AVG add-on.
