Computer does not recognize any printer

I am running Windows XP and have had no problem running both printers up until now. The first is connected via Firewire, and the other through the network using an HP Jet Direct. All of a sudden my computer can no longer find the network printer. In addition it acts as though the firewire printer is not there either. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and it tells me there is no printer connected. The network printer still works fine from other machines. Any ideas - my printing needs are backing up? :tazz:
