Hi:

I have windows ME OS.
I got a new Kodak Easyshare C813 digital camera and is not compatible with windows ME.
The camera comes with software version 7.0 that works only with windows XP.
I googled and I find the software version 5 and it downloaded/applied to my OS but doesnt recognize the digital camera.
The digital camera is recognized by the OS windows ME but not by the software. (Kodak are idiots to limited one OS).

The camera is OK for taking home photos, nothing fancy, but I want to be able to download them and send to my family through my PC.

I also bought a memory card PNY with 2 GB Premium Flash Memory.

How can I transfer the photos from the digital camera to my PC (OS: windows ME)not using a printer?

Do I need to buy a card reader? and which one will be OK for my OS?

Thanks for your help.

Kodak are not idiots. Hardly anybody uses ME these days. Drivers for such an old operating system are akin to finding the Holy Grail. You may find you have no realistic option but to consider either replacing the operating system if the machine's up to it, or replacing the machine if it isn't.

I am very sorry that you're so unrealistic.

Hundreds of thousands of folks are still using windows ME.

I a good OS and is reliable. Doesnt get infected as XP or Vista.

XP and Vista have so many glitches that some people cannot use it.

And maybe you didnt have an answer, but I did and I fixed everything
with information from another capable and knowledgeable forums.

Thank you for your post and I respect your opinion, but Windows ME is not the most reliable operating system Microsoft ever made. It has major memory leaks for one thing, was rushed out after Win2k and is now considered obsolete, no more updates means more security holes so on that basis you are more vulnerable with it on-line than XP, Vista or Windows 7.

But I'm happy to hear your issue was fixed and I'm sorry we couldn't be of assistance.

Obviously we have problems of communication.
I say "tomato" and you say "tomato"

Read my post again and realize that I didnt say that windows ME
is the "most reliable operating system Microsoft ever made"

I am going to explain to you very slowly:
I have windows ME as my OS and I am a computer programmer as well
as web designer, graphic designer and so on. I believe that ME is a good OS. Obsolete? call whatever you want. I believe that your ppls also call us "colonies". You already left outside many folks here in these boards.
Many are still using the obsolete ME.

I do have Vista at my place of work but I do lots of work at home with my old windows ME and graphic programs.

Memory in windows ME can be fix very easy adding more memory.
Microoft updates are all in there, we dont have any vulnerabilities as XP and VISTA. Microsoft corrected all critical issues for ME.

IE 7 is a browser NOT AN OPERATING SYSTEM. Check your knowledge.

Still think that Kodak are idiots because they left outside a wide
number of users of old operating system.

All major utilities and softwares still supporting old operating system, Kodak doesnt.

He said Windows 7 Not IE 7. Windows 7 is the next MS system after Vista.

I also have a problem with my camera but it is Mustek and I'm working with WinME. I don't know what I can do to fix this problem. My camera program is not compatible with WinMe, any ideas?Ώ
