I have completed all the scans you suggested. I have scanned with Adware, Spybot search and destroy and CW shredder. I still have the nail.exe in the highjack this log and also, a file: cwcvfskqtvc.exe pops up all the time. I block with Norton firewall and have tried to delete in windows program. It keeps coming back along with aurora. I would like to get this off my computer. Thanks for any help you can give me! Here is my highjack this log:

Hi DPerf1 and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

1. Go to Geeks to Go
. Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window. (make sure you have signed in first)
. In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
. If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there

2. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

3. Please DELETE your current HJT program from your Desktop.

4. Download the most current version of Hijackthis (v.1.99.1) to a folder of its own. HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

A. Please click on the "My Computer" icon, then the C: drive icon. Next Right click on the desktop and choose NEW from the list available then> Folder' and name the folder 'HijackThis'. The end result should resemble something like this C:\HijackThis\

B. Download Hijackthis from:HERE

C. Double Click on 'HijackThis.zip' to extract and install HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

D. Close ALL windows except HJT

E. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

F. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Regards,

Trevuren

Hi DPerf1,

I need you to move HijackThis to its own folder so that nothing gets deleted by mistake. The easiest way for you now would be as follows:

. Right Click on your Desktop
. Scroll down the menu to "New"
. Left click on "Folder"
. Name Folder "HJT"
. Drag or copy the current HijackThis icon from your desktop into the HJT Folder
. Run HJT from there.

Regards,

Trevuren

OK I put HJT in a new folder in C: . It looks like it did the same scan. Anyway, here it is. Thanks!

Hi DPerf1

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1. Download and install Cleanup from: HERE. Extract it from the zip file to your desktop. Install the application accepting the defaults. DO NOT RUN IT UNTIL SO INSTRUCTED

2. Download and install a 14-day free version of Ewido Security Suite from:HERE. Update its definitions. DO NOT RUN UNTIL SO INSTRUCTED.

3. REBOOT into Safe MODE

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

4. Now let's do some work on your log:

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

Trevuren,
I could not download the Ewido program. It looks like it downloads, but then I can't do anything with it. I have completed all the other steps, and was going to run Ewido. I even tried downloading again, but the same thing happened. Also, the aurora cwcvfskqtvc.exe keeps trying to access the internet. How can I get rid of this one too? I didn't see that one on any of the hijack this lists. Tell me what to do. All of your instructions have been very easy to follow.

Thanks, Diane

Hi Diane,

Some of the malware experts are also using this product which I suggest you try:

I have found this trial version of Solo AV to be working really well also:
