Problems saving and downloading in firefox

I started up my computer today to find that i could no longer save or download any kind of file using right click in firefox.
Firefox has always worked flawlessly for me in the past, and up untill now has had no kind of problem whatsoever.
I have not updated firefox, nor have i installed any programs recently. Any help solving this problem would be much appreciated.
