I have been getting a couple of BSOD's (So far only whilst playing games)

I was Playing a game called Killing Floor and I got this BSOD...

STOP: 0x000000D1 (0xFF084D9D, 0x0000001E, 0x00000000, 0xB7D5BED6)

USBPORT.SYS - Address B7D5BED6 base at B7D50000, Datestamp 480254CE

This error has occured twice now.

I also got this BSOD whilst playing World of Warcraft...

STOP: 0x000000B8 (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)


I have no idea what ever of these mean and I have tried everything I can think of.

I have removed all my USB items and have used a different keyboard and mouse in different slots and have got the error repeatedly.

Please can anyone help.

go to start --> run and type in evntvwr (or eventvwr, my memory is a bit rusty). Look for hardware related errors. Try and see if you can find the B8 stop code cause.

ALso, what is your system? Home built or specific manufacturer.

Please follow the steps below to enter the Event Viewer program in XP. This will give me more information into what is causing your issue.

Go to
Start and then click on Run
Type in eventvwr.msc and press Enter
On left side click on Applications On right side look for any RED X about the time of a incident
On left side click on System. On right side look for any Red X about the same time of a incident
Also look for any yellow exclamation mark at the same time in either of the above

ok, I have a custom built PC running Windows XP (Service pack 3).

I have followed your instructions and there are no application errors at all, there were some system errors I can see but they aren't around the time of the crashes... they are about 20 mins before the crashes but all the RED X I can see are DCOM (three in a row each time, usually within the same second as each other)... there is also a Dhcp RED X, there are also some yellow exclamations and they are mostly Tcpip with a few W32Time scattered about.

I have gotten 4 minidump reports too which I have uploaded here...

Actually, you have:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL @ USBPORT.SYS (twice)
ATTEMPTED_SWITCH_FROM_DPC @ WPN311.sys
ATTEMPTED_SWITCH_FROM_DPC @ HIDCLASS.SYS
so edge2022's advice should do

Ok, i am currently downloading the new driver for wireless but i dont understand what the second bit of info is for/why i need to so it.

Im not saying i wont do it or anything like that I just would like to know what it is I am doing.

The wireless driver is probably causing a conflict with the native USB driver, USBPORT.SYS

A DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD is a telltale sign of driver conflicts.

Right. Ill keep you posted but updating the driver seems to have fixed the issue so far, I have spent my whole day playing online games and so far there has been no BSOD's.

1... Im at uni and it's now my summer holiday... WOO!
2... I only work weekends.
3... It's what was causing the PC to BSOD in the first place.

4... It still seems to have fixed it as I have not had a BSOD since updating the wireless. (again, thanks for the help).
