Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://www.noidea.us...050515010747824
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [qeeouk] c:\windows\system32\dqjgzh.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Metallica,

I'm getting "infected file found" Ewido dialog boxes when running the Ewido scan - asking if I want to perform an action.....should I check clean or none?

Thanks

Good job. :tazz:
The HijackThis log is clean. but it looks as if Ewido had some problems.

*Click Here to download Killbox by Option^Explicit.
*Extract the program to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
*In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\edimpysgz.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\irnvfnq\jsojueij.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\jjrjsqc.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\poker.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\pxnmm\gphkv.exe

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

Let the computer reboot and let me know how it is behaving.

Metallica,
Sorry for being such a newbie....
I've highlghted the file names, pressed control-c and nothing happens.
When I do that and "Paste from clipboard" into killbox, nothing happens.
Thanks for your help and patience!

That's quite allright. It IS confusing. :tazz:

It's OK if you don't notice anything.

Just push the round red button with the white X in it after "Pasting from the clipboard
"

Metallica,
When I highlight, control-c, paste from clipboard and click the red/white button a dialog box pops up that says..."You have not specified any file to delete, you must specify a file path in the yellow box"

However, if I right click and paste, the first file name in the box shows up in the killbox box. Are they all there if I do it that way?

Thanks!

I don't understand anymore. :tazz:
Can you try for me?

Check which files you can find from the list I posted.
Then use the copy & paste method.

Check again after the reboot if al were deleted or only the first one.

I'll try and get a hold off O^E in the meantime.

Metallica,
You are the "Hero of the Day"! Thanks so much for your help!
Things seem to running great, no more pop ups.
I'll follow your suggestions via your link to keep this puppy running smoothly.

I have the following running:
Adaware
Spybot
Microsoft anti-spyware
SpySweeper free trial
Spyware Doctor
Ewido

I've read of SpySweeper problems when the free trial expires, so I may remove it. Should I keep all these other programs?

Here is a fresh HiJackThis log for your approval.

The log looks great. :tazz:
Glad we were able to assist you.

All the programs you have are great to have. One thing to keep in mind is to select only one of them to run as resident protection. The rest only to scan now and then.

Did you get rid of all the files by using normal copy & paste ?

Metallica,
I'm not sure if it's over! This Aurora beast may still be with me.
I just ran a Microsoft Antispyware scan which turned up 3 items:

1. Transponder.ABetterInternet.Aurora
Location: c:\systemvolumeinformation\_restore{987e0331-0f01-427c-a58a-7a2e4aabf84d}\rp199\a0021221.exe

2. PacerDMedia.Install (Trojan Downloader)
Location: c:windows\temp\toc_0009.exe

3. Possible Browser Hijack (Browser Modifier)
Location: Internet Explorer:

What do you think?

Thanks!
