Hi, I have been trying to get my computer to run smoothly after I had to reformat my comp after getting a virus/malware/trojan. Well I have done almost everything to my knowledge to get it to run at peak performance but there are three system drivers that won't load on startup. How can I get them to load?

Here is the most recent boot log with normal startup settings selected in mscongif:

Yes, I checked for updates maybe 2 hours ago but both Windows updates and the software updates(through windows update) are up to date. I have done most of the steps in the malware walk through already so I'm gonna post of their. But I couldn't even find the info on what these drivers control.

I just read the update. I will wait to post in malware section then. But the 3 drivers are: SRTSPX64.SYS, srv.sys, & NDProxy.SYS. Thanks for the quick replies though.

From what I've found:
SRTSPX64.SYS has to do with Symantec(norton AV).
srv.sys is the file sharing component, also know as SMB.
NDProxy.SYS is the Microsoft Corp. NDIS Proxy (network card driver).

This probably isn't malware related.. I just glanced to fast and thought it was a hijackthis log. I'm doing some research right now.

Alright so:

First one is easy. Since SRTSPX64.SYS is with norton, this means norton is installed on your computer, or was installed, but not fully removed. Do you currently use norton? If so, this driver is either not up to date, or corrupted. I'd update norton if it needs it, or if you don't use norton, delete this file manually.

srv.sys is the file sharing utility. Either it is corrupted, or it is disabled. What do you have going on network-wise over there? Any file sharing?

NDProxy.SYS is the NDIS Proxy. Should be associated with one of the items listed in Non-Plug and Play Drivers in Device Manager.
To get to Device Manager in Vista:
Click Start.
Type devmgmt.msc into the search bar.
Click enter.

Under Non-Plug and Play devices, double click each one, and under driver tab, choose update driver. See if you get any.

When I open the device manager it doesn't show nonplug and play devices so I selected show hidden devices under in menu bar>view and the non plug and play show up but when I double click any of the drivers then it doesnt even give an option to update, it just has star/stop, startup type, etc. I have tried running as admin too with same results. The ndproxy driver is displayed under non plug and play though but under the startup type it is selected as demand, not boot.

Well, perhaps that takes care of one.. On the dropdown menu have you changed demand to boot? That should startup that one.

Sorry, forgot to answer your questions. But yes, I do have norton as my current anti virus and I did have a problem with it. I had to uninstall and reinstall a few days back and after the uninstall and reinstall it had 2 norton programs under program add/remove so I had to uninstall it again and install as a clean boot install(i.e. selective startup, all non microsoft services unchecked and all startup progs unchecked). As for file sharing, I use limewire and utorrent mostly but I also have imesh installed and I've had sharezilla and ares installed. I have the later 2 uninstalled and I had a problem with the ares still showing as a startup prog in msconfig so I had to delete that entry out of reg edit then delete the file manually under the appdata(hidden) folder in my user folder and I did the erase with the eraser.exe prog which uses dod 3-pass overwriting deletion method.

Well I have norton 360 installed and it is my active antivirus/internet security program. But I don't really have much personal knowledge about how the program works or anything.

Oh sorry, didn't see your post. You posted like a second ahead of me.. lol.

So somewhere withing uninstalling and reinstalling, one of the norton drivers was probably corrupted. But if norton works fine, then maybe we can just leave that alone.

As for p2p programs, I recently made a promise joining geekstogo,

* We will not support or allow the discussion of any peer to peer (P2P) applications, except for their removal.

and I will support nothing other than, well, their removal. I would recommend it by the way; they are a perfect breeding ground for malware. Read the Terms of use here.

srv.sys actually is however, sharing as in file sharing between local computers, like networking. Do you have more than one computer, maybe on an ethernet or wireless line that you connect to?

Well, I'm on my main laptop right now(wireless connection) but I have another laptop and a desktop but they aren't on and I hardly ever use them. I have all those hooked up through wireless but I do have a product from actiontec which is basically a product that you plug into the electric outlet and you have one adapter hooked up to your router and another to whatever piece of hardware you want to a wired internet connection and it runs through you're electrical hardlines. I used this with an xbox360 but have since got rid of it. I did have it setup to feed media from my computer to my xbox but it was setup before I reformatted. I have file sharing turned off though and I don't have any of the computers setup to share files, I do sync via bluetooth with my phone though.
