When you don't want automatic word wrapping

I am editing a document and there are some words that, even though seperated by a space, need to remain together e.g. USD1 billion or per cent. But of course Word automatically wraps words onto the next line. I am wondering if there is a function which allows me to indicate that words like "per" and "cent" should not be seperated by the word wrap function.

Can anyone help?
thanks
Lydia
