I can't seem to click anything that is flash based on my computer. I'm not talking about surfing/browsing but actual flash based programs like Blackberry Desktop Manager and Sympatico Security Manager. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the programs. I'm not even sure if i'm describing the "flash" based thing properly.

Thanks for your time and help in advance.

What exactly do you mean by flash based?
Try uninstalling Flash: http://kb2.adobe.com...1/tn_14157.html
Then reinstalling: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Sorry I did some reading... and what I meant to say was Java. Java-based programs don't seem to run properly on my computer.

Blackberry Desktop Manager is one of them... the main menu comes up but since there aren't any "real" clickable buttons... it doesn't register any of my mouse clicks as legitimate.

The same thing happens for my Sympatico Security Manager.. when it asks me to update a certain file, it's a java-based popup (I believe) and my clicks on the java type "ok" button are ignored.

Download JavaRa from here: http://raproducts.org/
Start the program, and search for updates.
Once any new updates are installed, click on Remove Older Versions.

Tell me if the programs work now.

Thanks for the fast reply, my apologies on the late answer... but I have done what you said to do and the programs still open & run but I am unable to click any of their commands.

Do the programs work in safe mode?
http://www.computerh...sues/chsafe.htm

Did you update Java, or did you remove previous versions, or both?

Does this work on your computer: http://www.eigelb.at...a/DelayedTrace/
It is a Java applet.

The programs work/open in safe mode as they do normally... but I am still not able to click their associated commands and get an appropriate response.

I updated Java and removed previous versions.

The Java applet you sent does work... and is able to refresh when I click as well. I'm not too sure if you're familiar with Blackberry Desktop Manager, but if you have time and don't mind installing it... I could explain the failed responses that I'm talking about.

Basically, there are 6 commands on the main menu screen.... they respond with a "highlight" when your cursor moves over them. However, they are supposed to be able to be clicked in order to activate their separate commands. This is what I am unable to do. Same thing goes for my Security Manager, I'm also unable to CLICK the command in order to get to the next step. So frustrating... I don't see how this is going to get solved. Something has to be preventing it from recognizing my mouse click.

Are you sure that you have the latest version of Blackberry Desktop Manager?
https://www.blackber...B93E4F3BB068C22

I understand what you are saying. It's like clicking on something, and nothing happens; right?

Try running a SFC check. Go to Start -> Run -> sfc /scannow
It may prompt you to insert your Windows CD if it finds any missing or corrupted system files.

I have the latest version for sure. I just uninstalled the previous one I had the other day and downloaded the newest version available.

And yes, exactly what you said is right on the money!

I tried doing the SFC check and it basically asked me for a cd right away... I have no clue where the CD that came with my Dell Desktop is though.

Do this little registry edit described here: http://www.updatexp....cannow-sfc.html
Reboot, and try running SFC again.

As far as I see.. the first step requires me to locate my XP CD. Something that I haven't been able to locate since I moved 2 years ago. Must have thrown it out with my Dell box.. I'm pretty sure they gave me something in there.

Did the registry edit work?
You may already have the I386 folder in the root of your C: drive.

Look for someone from whom you can borrow a Windows CD. It has to be the same type (Home, Pro, or Media Center)

I'm not technical enough with computers to be doing registry edits. Another problem is me attempting to find that 386 folder. For some reason my "windows search" doesn't seem to work... just the search assistant pops up. I never really bothered to fix it.

Running SFC should fix this issue. Look for someone from whom to borrow a Windows disc from. I don't know what to do before you run and fix all errors caught by SFC.
