Dell Inspiron 700M battery is dischargin slowly while AC power is plugged in. Icon tray shows AC power plugged in with battery charging yet the battery is discharging as if AC power is not plugged in. When CPU is shut down, battery charges to 100%.

When battery reaches 0%, CPU continues to run on AC power.

Running Windows XP Professional.

WEll sounds to me like either the battery is defective or the power supply is not generating good enough power.... you might want to take either or both in and have them checked. We have a store here called "Batteries Plus" and they'll check them for you.... failing that you could try a computer shop or even an electronic shop if you have one...
good luck
