Just found this site looking for answers for my home computer. I am typing this from my work computer on the same network.

Here is my problem. Came home tonight to see that my home computer(XP home) had an error message on it. The system recovered from a serious error. This happens occasionally i usually reboot and nothing seems to happen.

Well this time i rebboted and a number of my windows files and personal programs have been "deleted". Including Outlook express, internet explorer, any of the accessories like games, the system restore seems to be there but it doesn't work I tried several dates over the past two weeks it says cannot restore to that date.

All personal programs like spybot/adaware some of my kids software games seem to be gone as well.

This hasn't affected my personal files like pictures.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try System Restore from Safe Mode.

Please, be more specific, what actually doesn't work.
