Hi, have encountered a problem with my Acer laptop DVD Rom drive keeps opening up,
and it's also a bit slow at a moment.

This seems like the workings of a virus.

I suggest you start here and follow the instructions completely. See if this solves your problem. If not then start a new topic in the Malware forums.
