I have recently run into the windows XP log on/ff loop glitch. I have read up on the threads here and have gotten as far as the command prompt window on my XP Sp2 install CD. when i get there however, i can not copy files from the CD key. i have tried entering CD SYSTEM 32 or CHDIR SYSTEM32 and the using Copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe. but it tells me the system can not find the files specified. what do i do? i think it may not be looking at the CD but instead on my hard drive in my hard drive in my system32 directory.

thanks in advance!

Hi Lorgar,

The most common cause of the symptoms you describe are caused by viruses. More offen then not the viruses can be tricky to remove. Please refer to the Malware Cleaning Guide

If you are not able to remove the malware using the guide post an OTLIST2 log in the Malware Removal Section briefly decribing your issue.
