I have a physically handwritten document(like a peice of paper with something written on it) which was scanned and now it is an image file (tif) , i need to convert this into text. I really need help:)

The thing is i researched on google and many forums but most of the results are , download an OCR software , Use a tablet pc , use acrobat .

The thing is the OCR software is not able to convert this image file into text
I dont have a tablet PC
I used acrobat and that never helped.

I tried a few softwares which convert handwritten documents into text but it still did not work.

can someone help me out with this puzzle ?

Most of the time, it is just easier to type in the text found on the paper instead of scanning and converting.

Another option is to use voice recognition software to read your notes to the computer.
Microsoft offers a free package.

Wow, excellent thread. I have both speech rec. programs but I don't use them because they don't punctuate automatically. Do I need to read the instructions more carefully or just do it by hand?

Doing punctuation by hand is a good idea.

Advanced punctuation like <, >, }, {
is to be done by hand.

Otherwise, just dictate to the computer commands like period, and it will insert a .
That also works for ?, !, comma, "", ;, :
Maybe some more, but those are the most commonly used punctuation.

how about free online ocr tool? it can extract text from image, and save text to txt file.

JonyGreen, this thread is 6 years old. Doubtful anyone is still looking for an answer.

 

I would be curious though whether it couls handle it or not.
