What are the results from the hard drive diagnostic???
Try using Testdisk and see what you can fix.

hey...
i think i downloaded the wrong file cause i try to follw the instructions but the fil on the cd is dfferent than those on the instructions

i downloaded the ubcd.iso not the testdisk file right?

Download the ubcd.iso file and burn it to a disc using BurnCDCC. Boot from the disc and navigate the menus till you find TestDisk... then run it. Then the instructions should make sense.

Hard Disk Tools
Then you should get the Test Disk option Edge mentioned

ok so I went to hard disk tools but I didn't find testdisk
I found this...

installation tools
diagnostics tools
device management tools
wiping tools
cloning tools
low-level-editing tools

which one do I choose?

after I clicked diagnostic tools there is a list of different tests
none of them are testdisk

which one should I choose?

When the 1st menu comes up, select Filesystem Tools.
Then select Partition Tools.
