I am trying to recover still image jpeg pictures from a DVD slideshow I made. I somehow failed to save the raw images like I usually do, and want to use some of those pictures in that show in different slideshow.

I can copy the files back to my computer as VCD and DAt files, however, I cannot open any of them. I tried to use "K-lite codec pack", and upon trying to install that, I got this message "Morgan multimedia Stream Switcher streamer direct show filter" is detected on my computer, and it is a known bad filter and recommends that I disable it before continuing. And when I try to open the DAT files, it says that doing that could harm my computer. :)

Can someone explain this to me? And should I do that, or just give up on the K-lite codec pac?

Do you know of another good free software that would allow me to recapture those pictures from a DVD slideshow?

Thanks!
