Dear Geeks!

I have an "HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GWA4164B" that I cant get to burn.
I try to install AnyDVD and the my PC will not burn with Nero or BurnAwareFree.

In "My computer" both my CD and DVD-drive shows. But AnyDVD, Nero and BurnAware cant access them.

Nero says:
---------------------------
Nero Burning ROM
---------------------------
Please ask your system administrator to give you permission to
write CDs/DVDs. This can be done using the control panel
application 'Nero BurnRights'. The tool is already installed on this PC.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

"Nero Burning Rights" has the option "Everybody has burning rights" aktivated.

BurnAware says:
---------------------------
BurnAware
---------------------------
No supported recorder found.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

AnyDVD says:
---------------------------
AnyDVD 6.4.3.2
---------------------------
WARNING!

No DVD Drive detected!

Possible reasons:

1. - You don't have a DVD drive, buy one.

2. - You haven't rebooted your system after AnyDVD has been installed. Please restart your computer.

3. - Your external DVD drive is not powered on or is not properly connected.

4. - There is a problem initialising the AnyDVD driver. If this is the case, try this:
Uninstall AnyDVD.
Reboot.
Install AnyDVD.
Reboot.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I have tried a lot of things, like uninstall AnyDVD, disable/enable the drives, several reboots, start in safe mode etc.

Is there any smart "Geek" that can help me, I be very, very happy!!! :0)

Thanks!

What are you trying to burn?

Its the same if its files - music or anything else.

The drives is blocked to the program - so the "Burn"-button is grey.

In control-panel - and system items - I see the burner - and it says everything is OK.
But every program that try to reach it dont get permission or been blocked.

Try CDBurnerXP: http://cdburnerxp.se/ to burn data, or music CD.

Its not a program error. - Just to try this program - I downloaded it - and install it. When I try to burn - I got message that it could not burn because I dont have choosen a burner. When I try to choose burner - my DVD-burner dont show in the list (nothing shows in list). So this is a problem in system - that hide / block my DVD drives to program.

ITS BLOCKS MY PC FROM ACCESSING MY DVD ROM DRIVE; MAKES MY COMPUTER THINK IT'S BROKEN!

Right click on your burner, click "Properties".
Do you see "Recording" tab?
If so, is there a checkmark in "Enable recording for this drive"?

You were already speaking to one, his name is Broni.

I would try next to power off the machine, unplug all connections from the burner, plug them back in, and restart the machine. Please post your results.

First of all, we're not here 24/7, because we're all volunteers.

Secondly, the burning laser may be shot.

You can try...

1. Uninstall the drive through Device Manager.
Restart computer. The drive will be automatically reinstalled.
or...
2. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
Restart computer.
or...
3. Download, and run Restore Missing CD Drive patch
Double click on cdgone.zip to unzip it.
Right click on cdgone.reg, click Merge.
Accept registry merge.
Restart computer.
or...
4. Go to Device Manager, click a "+" sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
You'll see two items:
- ATA Channel0 (or Primary Channel)
- ATA Channel1 (or Secondary Channel)
Right click on each of them, and click Uninstall. Confirm.
Restart Windows. They'll be automatically reinstalled.

Hi Broni!

I am really sorry if sounded ungrateful - but I was a little stressed about this...

And I totally understand and appreciate the work you do here!

I have now tried step 1-3.
On step 2 I dont see "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" - so I dont do anything here.

and when it comes to nr. 4 I also try this with no luck.
