If it's a bad CD any suggestions on what I should do for now?

You could ask the manufacturer of your computer for some re-installation or recovery CDs.

Well, I could not find another windows cd, plus, I've heard that using another computer's Windows Reinstallation CD wouldn't work with the different Cd keys and all. Maybe I'll retry using my own again and restarting the set-up when I get home.

What about doing the partition thing? That would wipe all the data but might possibly allow it to work right? If there aren't any other options i'm gonna have to consider... uh, having a "paid professional" fix it then.

What is the make of your computer?
It most likely will have a recovery partition...

Do you have any data that you wish to backup before the reinstallation? If so, then click on Backup Files Without Windows in my sig, and follow the directions to backup all your data.

I have used your instructions to make the Windows CD and followed your steps on:
http://www.geekstogo...pt-t242795.html

Steps 1 and 2 work for me.

When i reach step 3 it says:

Microst Windows XP<TM> Recovery Console.

The Recovery Console provides system repair and recovery functionality.

Type EXIT to quit the Recovery Console and restart the computer.

It is black and white like your print screen.

However, the C:\WINDOWS part and everything below it does not come up.

And when I type the codes (on the page above) it says 'Access Denied'.

What shall I do?

Although your issue may seem similar there can be other factors that may need to be resolved.
By bumping on someone's topic it makes it confusing for the tech to understand who they are helping. This can in turn cause the wrong support to be given and can cause instability or worse to happen to your system. Thank you for your cooperation.

If there is an administrator password for the administrator account, enter it and hit Enter (if asked for the password, and you don't know it, you're out of luck).

4. There are eight commands you must enter in sequence to repair your problem..
I will introduce them here, and then show the results graphically in the next six steps.
NOTE. Make sure, you press Enter after each command. Make sure, all commands are exact, including "spaces".
These commands are as follows:

CD..
ATTRIB -H C:\\boot.ini
ATTRIB -S C:\\boot.ini
ATRIB -R C:\\boot.ini
del boot.ini
BOOTCFG /Rebuild

When I insert the "del boot.ini" command it says that it cant find it or something like that, and i do all the rest commands and reboot the PC the problem isnt fixed, the file is still missing
what should I do?

Just hit enter...
If you want further help, please open a new topic in this forum. Thank you.

thx
