Please help! Like i said, i have no desktop icons, just the background photo. I have tried to right click to change my settings, but nothing happens when i right click. I have to hit control alt delete to bring up my task bar to get online. i have ran avg virus scans, and everything is fine so far.

Hi Krissy, Welcome to GeeksToGo.

Missing desktop icons can be caused by several different issue's. The first solution I'd like to recommend is TweakUI.

After installing the program follow these steps...

1) open the start menu
2) navigate to Powertoys for XP >> TweakUI
3) once the program is open select Repair in the left plane
4) you should see "Rebuild Icons" from the drop menu
5) click Repair Now
6) when finished reboot the computer

The next step is to have a look at our Malware Cleaning Guide.

Download/Install MalwareBytes

If the steps described in the Malware Cleaning Guide do not completely resolve the issue create a new topic Here and someone from the Malware Staff will assist you.

Open up task manager.

Click File >> New Task (RUN) >> type: C:\%systemroot%\system32\tweakui.exe
