hi..first time posting so excuse my ignorance. i have an older pc running xp with sp1 only and lately my screen goes black. the monitor still has the power on light on and 1 beep sounds. i have to shut the pc down on the powerbutton. by starting it again i get a message sometimes of..hardware not found and bios not readable or so. when i wait a few minutes it powers up just fine. hm as u might have noticed i am lacking the pc lingo. i would really appreciate any help and suggestion. thanks

The beep and black screen usually indicate a graphics card corruption.

I suggest a replacement of your graphics card. See your local computer shop, to check out what would be good for your computer. :)
