Hello, how is everyone? I've ran into a problem yesterday and I spent an hour w/ two Verizon tech support people trying to fix it, but w/ no avail.

My problem deals w/ my browser/internet connection. It's a strange one.
My browser doesn't fully load when I open it up.
All I see is a blank page for my Mozilla Firefox BUT I have complete access to everything on AIM.
Which means that I have internet access correct? Since I can connect and use everything on AIM, right?

So my problem is simply that I can't "see"(if you will) anything on Mozilla and IE when I start them up.
What could the problem be? The Verizon reps assured me that I have a stable connection and the problem is w/ my browser. Now I'm here, my Geeks2Go people who help me out plenty ^_^

Does anyone think that if I uninstall and reinstall Mozilla that it may fix the problem?
And if so, when I uninstall it, do I need internet access to download Mozilla, or will the files still be on my computers? I'm on my friend's laptop, so if I don't respond right away I'm very sorry.
Oh, I've been told that this weird thing popped up a few days ago. It came from the lower right hand of my screen and said "anti virus protect" or something; and there was a little silver shield icon near the time bar area. The strange thing is that I don't have any program that is like that. It hasn't appeared since as well.

thank you, I appreciate anyone who took the time to read my topic.

This looks like a infection or maybe a rogue program

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post the reguested logs in THAT forum. If you are unable to run any of the tools then start a new topic in the malware forum and put this in the subject line...I am unable to run any malware tools

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

I spoke w/ another Verizon representative and he suggested that I remove Norton Antivirus and AVG to see if one of those programs were blocking my internet. And I have, and now I can access Mozilla. Should I reinstall AVG?

An issue has occurred, when I Google something and click the link I get redirected to this"http://vacmoresherry...q=verizon.net". What in the world is that?

The symptoms you are describing are strongly related to a problem of malware.

Please follow the instructions given to you by rshaffer61.
