Small home network w/2 computers

Hi folks, I'm having problems with getting my home network up and running. Here's what I have. Comcast cable modem (DSL) to my Dlink router. My primary computer is a HP laptop (Vista Home) wireless to the router. My desk top has a (XP Pro) wireless connection to the Dlink router. I want to be able to print to the printer that is wired to the desk top as well as sending files between the two computers. Can anyone help to do this? Thank you very much. RBH
