I am following the XP repair procedure outlined in another post and have come up with this message after going through the XP Home repair sequence, before the product key number is requested. - This error appeared in a dialog box called "System Setup Log - \Windows\setuperr.log" Msg : "The signature for Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade is invalid. The error code is 426."

My system has been plagued with spyware and the latest problem occured today when I got the error about winlogon.exe and the neverending BLUE screen. I attempted to boot in Safe Mode and was not able to. That is when I discovered this site and followed the instructions to repair XP.

Please help - I have lots of non-retrievable software on this box and I don't want to lose it all. Is there any hope???
