active x icon changes to red X and wont open

ActiveX icon wont open, it changes quickly to a red X and will not open the images. I have down loaded all up dates for Active X as well as a new activeX 1.5 MB and it still changes from a ActiveX icon to a red X. Some where it is being turned off when I attempt to open it. Possibly in my register or a nasty little thing. I am stumped, your help will really be appreciated. Thanks, Big Boy
