No Boot From CD-RW

Had need to boot from a cd , computer would not. My bios says I have primary drive 0 and primary drive 1. In truth I have also secondary drive 0 also! Secondary dr 0 is cd-rw jumpered as master on single connector cable. cd-rw functions and is recognized by XP and device manager. I have replaced cables,swapped cd unit with known good,to no avail. Just food for thought, about the last time I booted from a cd , primary drive 1 was installed and I updated my optiplex bios A06 to A10.
