Go Start>Run ("Start Search" in Vista), type in:
sfc /scannow
Click OK (hold CTRL, and SHIFT, hit Enter in Vista).
Have Windows CD/DVD handy.
If System File Checker (sfc) will find any errors, it may ask you for the CD/DVD (rarely in Vista case).
If sfc won't find any errors in Windows XP, it'll simply quit, without any message.

someone told me to do these 2 steps -
1. You may want to update to a more secure Hosts file
There's lots of important info on that here: http://www.mvps.org/...p2002/hosts.htm
As it's difficult to see the actual download, here it is: http://www.mvps.org/...p2002/hosts.zip
Simply download the hosts.zip file, extract, then run mvps.bat, then restart
2.[Important Notice - 2K/XP/Vista Users]
In most cases a large HOSTS file (over 135 kb) tends to slow down the machine. This only occurs
in W2000 and XP. Windows 98 and Windows ME are not affected.
To resolve this issue (manually) open the "Services Editor"
Start | Run (type) "services.msc" (no quotes)
Scroll down to "DNS Client", Right-click and select: Properties
Click the drop-down arrow for "Startup type"
Select: Manual, click Apply/Ok and restart.
Then restart, and test browsing the Internet again
will thses 2 steps help ? what do u advise?

I'm not sure, what the problem is here, that why I wanted you run sfc.
As for hosts file, the above is a very good security step, but it won't solve your problem.
However, we can check what you have there.
Navigate to:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
You'll see hosts file there (no extension).
Open it in Notepad, and paste the content back here.
