Discs 1- 7 do fine but disc 8 stalls in recovery with a message:
PROBLEM IN EXTRACTING PROCESS:WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\OfflineCache\Personal.32#0409\0000013c.query couldn't be opened

Any help?

I'm unsure what you are talking about. Is it a separate disc or something? How do I do it? All I have is a UB CD and these 8 recovery discs. What am I missing?
BTY...I appreciate your assistance very much. I'm still trying to learn as much as I can about computers and that's why I took on the task of working on my sister's.

Restart computer, and at HP logo press F10 key. It should bring you to recovery partition, which will serve very same function as your recovery disks.

Any other suggestions is appreciated.

I think, you'll have to call HP for new set of disks.

Why are you reinstalling, btw?

The system crashed...all blue screen and continually restarting while checking files on c:drive or something. I tried different things to get past it to recovery without the full system recovery to no avail. I finally had no choice but it gets through copying files and when it begins the partitioning phase, it gets to 21% at the same spot each time(pchealth\pchelp....) and says 'problem in extracting process.......

I think, you'll have to call HP for new set of disks.
Usually, they'll send you new set, either free, or at shipping charges.
