everytime I try to update windows I get an unknown error message and the updates fail to install. the last two error messages were:
code800b0100
code 80070490

please help me get my computer updated and protected. Thank you

I am not sure how to tell if i have installed sp2 yet or not. also the os is vista, not xp as the profile says...old habit...sorry. as far as security programs i currently have only spy ware protection, but am getting mcafee really soon.

Download Security Check from HERE, and save it to your Desktop.

* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Give this a try;

Reset Windows Update = Download

After the fix is finished, reboot the machine.
