Sound card problem

I moved a gaming file folder(WOW) to a new drive.Sound will only work on the game, not on the computers primary drive.
I have tried putting a new sound card in with new drivers,because I did not have the driver for the old card. The problem still persists.I am receiving error code " bad direct sound driver88780078.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
