Hello,

I have a sony vaio laptop vgn-sz220. I turn it on, and get a blue screen with an unmountable_boot_volume error. I have tried booting the computer from the xp cd, but there is no option to boot from cd or dvd rom. I tried using the recovery utility wizard that comes with all sony vaios, but I keep getting an error message.

My only option left is to use the recovery cds. But, I need to extract all of the files from the hard drive using another computer.

I was wonering if I can repair the messed up driver on the hard drive if I slave it onto another computer??? If so, how do I do it???

Thanks

Hey Broni, thanks for the reply. I did already. But, on sony vaio laptops and computers, there is no option to boot from cd or dvd rom.

So do you know if you can repair the hard drive if you slave it to another computer??? If so, how???

Thanks

I have already replied to 1 of your 4 posts on the same subject. You need to keep it in 1 post/ topic.
Have you done anything that was asked in the 1st one?
Do you have a XP cd?
Have you tried a repair?

EDIT: There has to be an option to boot from CD. If there wasn't, then there would be no way to repair the computer. Even their Restore instructions require you to boot from a recovery CD that was made/ obtained from Sony. F2 gets you into bios.
